PROJECT 3: Designing with Architectural Principles+Materiality+Context+User: Tropical Solitary Haven
As refer to the topic of the project, we are required to design according to the context of the given site, the Subang Ria Recreational Park. With the assigned microsite, the context is important In the design development including the environmental and user context. Therefore our design had to be site-specific and able to function as a tropical solitary haven to offer temporary solitary for 2 users.

DESIGN INTENTION
The structure was targeted for the function of an art studio haven that provides an inspiring and comfortable space for the user in the process of art creation. Two solitary space was designed specifically with the discussion and resting space as public space, as well as the washroom.
FINAL DESIGN
HORIZON
The form emphasizes the principle of horizontality and ground the building into the surrounding context. The spatial experience of stillness at the same time being different from the context while the varying natural environment stimulates the sensory. The space design as a sequential experience connects the user with nature from the experience. The use of cengal wood to form the building envelope offers extreme strength and solitariness without obstructing the feeling of the natural setting.

REFLECTION
This is the first project I design with the site given. Due to the movement restrictions during the pandemic. Although we were not able to have a site visit, we still need to study the site context through the analysis given from senior and online information. The learning experience is really joyful as I can explore the design completely from the first stage to the finalization of design as well as the production of the presentation board, learning to think and do in an architectural way.
