INTRODUCTION
PROJECT 2: Designing with Architectural Principles + Materiality
After the study of architecture principles, we were required to design a folly that works to express design thinking and principles only that can be derived from the building in project 1. Since that we were undergoing pandemic difficulties and being trapped indoors, having the least interaction with people, therefore a folly that can be used to encourage people and offer a positive experience is a good way for releasing the pressure.

DESIGN INTENTION
To express positive thinking and experience to the user, the principle of contrast form by the structure, in terms of silhouette showing at the curve plane and stripes shadows use to express the concept of inside and outside space. The circulation enhance the experience by creating a pathway with a clear orientation that can connect the both contrast elements.
FINAL DESIGN
INSIDE OUT
The idea is about breaking the boundary of ‘inside’ and ‘outside’.The space formed by louvers wall and roof that bring the outside in, offer the interaction with the nature.Contrast between the ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ space connected by the curved ramp circulation which leads to the journey of self revealing. Under the background of pandemic, we saw people struggling. Since that depression existed, create a journey to walk and look up to the sky, help the user found that every cloud has a silver lining, express optimism to the user is the key of the design principle.

REFLECTION
Through practice of architectural principles and materiality from this project, I had further understanding of interpreting concept in adding experience to users.Design through principles is way of expressing feeling and intention of designers , we as architect need to be able to design in adding meaning and intrinsic value instead of design for aesthetic and function only.
