INTRODUCTION
Tectonics structure made up with timber become the base of the design to fit into the human requirement in this project. Comfort is the key and found a way to integrate it with design elements and principles is what designer focus on.
DESIGN INTENTION
BANAL ACTION-NAPPING
The structure was designed to provide a comfortable place and the user was secured during napping. To fit the banal action requirement and the consideration of comfort, an organic design is the best representative to the project.
FINAL DESIGN
The Patron
For a space to take a rest in my imagination, it should be a place that can comfort me by the form of warmness, and also simple aesthetic to show harmony.
Elements of lines with the principle of movement were used as the main theme inspired by the radial pattern of the tree branches and roots. To make the design works, a bent timber lamination used. The natural form supported the user in the flexible napping positions, therefore the requirement of comfort achieved.
The outer portion, the form was designed in a way like a cave by timber pieces in terms of unity and connection. The complete detailing by the timber pieces will satisfy and calm the user down. Moreover, there is also the functional design allows the user to know the actual time, by the silhouette formed through the gaps between timber pieces that designed based on the angle of direct sunlight during the evening.
